Why Is It So Hard For Our Favorite Groups To Stay Together ? It seem as though once groups reach the pinnacle of their success their members decide to go their separate ways and pursue solo projects, or other creative endeavors. Jackson 5, Debarge, New Edition, NSync, and many other groups have struggled to stay together in the face of growing success & popularity. Usually the lead singer is plucked from the group and groomed for super-stardom while the remaining members are discarded or destined for appearances on reality television shows. Perhaps it's ambition, ego, growing apart creatively, the desire to express one's self as an individual rather than as a group, or all of the above that causes the disintegration of great groups; but one group that has impressively held it together over the years despite their share of difficulties is New Edition; that's why I choose to honor them today. The story of New Edition reminds me of the 5 Heartbeats, they may have lost a member or two, but they always seem to find their way back to the group in the end. New Edition is a living shinning example of resilience and solidarity for a generation that has very few points of reference for such virtues..... May New Edition & their music LIVE FOREVER !
